Summary

Welcome to Summervale, a town built on lies and bones. Darcie hoped for a smooth pregnancy. No murders, no death, just cribs and baby clothes. Her plans are drastically altered when a severed foot washes up on the beach. Now, it’s time for her to slide on her crime solving hat once more. With Bobby and Tristan planning their wedding, Ashton prepping for tour, and Stacey’s counselling business booming, the Summervale Six don’t have time for a new case. But with more body parts popping up in their seaside town, they realize their own lives will be at stake if they don’t take action. Is another serial killer hunting them? Will they ever have the normal lives they crave? In this final chapter of the bestselling Summervale Series, the phrase ‘til death do us part’ takes on a sinister new meaning.

Let's talk about it

Tell us something about yourself that not many people know.
I’ve studied forensic science, and I’m on the autism spectrum.

Why did you choose the themes in your book and were you aware of them from the start?
The themes came naturally to me with this series, for example, found family. I wanted my main character Darcie to be loved after going through her traumatic childhood, being the daughter of a serial killer, being abused and neglected. I wanted the series to be very character centred.

How difficult was it for you to write this book? Did you face any obstacles?
It was a little difficult writing Til Death in that I was in the midst of burnout and really needed a break. Half way through drafting it I took a few weeks off, and then came back and finished it, added a few more scenes and emotions. I hope my readers love it. I actually cried a little because it’s the final chapter and I don’t want to say goodbye to these characters. They’re so real to me.

Do you always write in this genre or do you like to break out of the box?
I also write fantasy romance, and have two dystopian series out as well. All my books are YA though.

What are your writing habits or idiosyncrasies?
Like to write in the afternoons, after I’ve had my lunch. I put on music, typically Taylor Swift or a song I feel fits the book or characters I’m writing at that moment. I always have to have some sort of beverage with me: earl grey tea, coffee, or sparkling water. Sometimes even wine. I also wear a wrist guard on my right wrist because I have carpal tunnel.

What would you do differently next time?
Nothing. I wouldn’t change anything.

With hindsight, what would you say to yourself as a fledgling writer?
Keep writing. Keep working. One day you’ll know exactly the WHY. If everything seems like a bit of a mess, it will work itself out and untangle itself.

If you worked with a professional editor, what was the experience like?
My editor has taught me things like grammar, which wasn’t always my strong suit, growing up as a writer with a disability. As well as the difference between American and Australian words and phrases.

What’s next for your writing?
I’m currently working on the manuscript of my next release, The Light Bringer, which is an upper YA romantasy (romantic fantasy) with wyverns, dark broody princes, shadow daddy’s, a unique magic system, and an academy with mythical beasts. The Light Bringer releases April 30.
