Summary

This book has been created to provide you with the knowledge and guidance you need to protect your TikTok account effectively.

You’ll get to know the criminals, hackers, and trolls out there. What do they want with you and how do they attack TikTokers?

Throughout the Book we’ll show you how to stay safe by following the best practices experts recommend.

It will help you understand the basic concepts of safety and security on TikTok. We want you to have a better understanding of the importance of security. Most of all, we want you to have a better TikTok experience.

Let's talk about it

Tell us something about yourself that not many people know.
I love the Australian wines so much that I plan to open a bottle shop in Brazil to promote them in the country in the future.

Why did you choose the themes in your book and were you aware of them from the start?
Due to the continue grow of TikTok in popularity and the cyber security risks associated with its use. My intention was to provide to the reader practical advice and crucial insights on how users can protect their data, understand emerging threats, and practice safe usage on the platform. Given the increasing relevance of TikTok in the daily lives of Australians, I believe this book would help them develop a critical understanding of social media security.

How difficult was it for you to write this book? Did you face any obstacles?
That was my first book, and it was very difficult to write it. The right vocabulary to reach the target audience was something that I really struggled with to put in the book and had to ask for professional support with that. My initial intention was to write a book to cover the major social media platforms (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn), but the book was becoming too big and I got lost in the middle of it and decided to split it by social media platforms, which made more sense in my opinion. With this approach I was able to focus by platform and accelerate the launching of the book.

Do you always write in this genre or do you like to break out of the box?
Only in this genre and I have no intention to write books in other genres.

What are your writing habits or idiosyncrasies?
I usually outline heavily before I start writing. Structure gives me clarity, especially when I’m tackling complex topics like cyber security. But once I start writing, I let the flow take over and revise later.

What would you do differently next time?
I think everything worked perfectly, but if I had to change something, I would write it in more detail – providing more examples, solutions for the problems, and would expand the topic cyber bullying, which has become extremely important these days.

With hindsight, what would you say to yourself as a fledgling writer?
Keep going that you will get there sooner than you imagine.

If you worked with a professional editor, what was the experience like?
It was great. The professional was amazing and really helped to take the book to next level.

What’s next for your writing?
I am writing the Portuguese version of the book and aim to launch it within the next 3 months. After that I will be writing its Spanish version which I expect to launch in the beginning of 2026. After that I will be writing a new book to address cyber security issues on Instagram. And then to Facebook, X, LinkedIn, etc.
